HONAKER, Va.
Mrs. Judy Renee Perkins Yates, age 58, of the Big A Mountain section of Honaker, Virginia, took her heavenly flight in the early morning hours Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at her home following a valiant battle with breast cancer.
Born on July 19, 1963, at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Charles Walker Perkins and Laura Novella Farmer Perkins. A lifelong resident of Russell County, she attended Bethany Baptist Church. Renee was a "Sweet Soul" who always exhibited a contagious smile, a great sense of humor, and a kind and caring spirit. She loved everyone, and everyone that met Renee loved her as well. She spent most of her adult life working as a full-time mom to her two sons who were her pride and joy. Once they had grown, she pursued a degree in cosmetology and worked in this field for many years before eventually becoming a United States Postal Carrier.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Walker Perkins. Renee is survived by her husband, David Scott Yates of the home; two sons, Blake Scott Yates and wife, Angela, of Honaker, Va., and Brandon David Yates and fiancée, Nikki Swiney, of Meadowview, Va.; mother, Laura Novella Perkins; three grandchildren, Emma Yates, Lucas Yates, and Lawson Yates; three brothers, Charles (Rick) Perkins and wife, Leslie, Stephen Walker Perkins and wife, Loretta, and Randall (Randy) Perkins and wife, Carla; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
As per Renee's wishes, there will be no funeral services.
