Luther Icenhour Obituary
October 23, 1934 - September 28, 2022
Luther H. Icenhour, beloved husband of Ruth Icenhour, passed on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the age of 87.
Luther met his wife at Roanoke College where he played for a Triple A baseball team, the Pittsburgh Pirates. They stayed pen pals for a few years before he proposed to Ruth. They were later married on July 4, 1958. He continued his education at ETSU and went to grad school at UT where he studied law and graduated with honors. Luther was a well respected attorney and practiced law for 58 years up to his unfortunate passing. Luther also enjoyed traveling, boating, football and fishing.
Luther is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Ruth Icenhour; two children, Danny Icenhour (Janna) and Laurie Yates (Mike); two grandchildren, Andrew Keesee (Allyson) and Megan Eades (Colin); two great-grandchildren, Brayden Eades and Jaxson Eades; five brothers, two sisters, several nieces, nephews and friends.
A gathering for friends and family will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Blevins Funeral Home from 12 until 2 a.m. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with Colonel James Patterson officiating. The committal will follow at Glenwood Cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Lukes United Methodist Church in Bristol, Va., or to a local animal shelter of your choosing.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his many friends who have been a comfort to the family during this difficult time.
