JAMES HARROD
James Robert Harrod, (July 15th, 1936 August 14th, 2023) also known as Jim or Jim Bob age 87, passed away on August 14th, 2023], surrounded by his loving family. Born in Denison, Texas to the late John Albert Harrod Sr. and Frances (Lynch) Harrod. He was one of the few people in Grayson County that can say they were Starr School Alumni. While in his mid-20's he honorably served his country in the United States Army. Later, after leaving the Army Jim went into real estate responsible for building local sub-divisions such as Cross Timbers and Shawnee Creek, both of which many people still call home today. Later in his life, Jim shifted his passion to providing services to individuals with special needs by founding ExceptionalCare. with his sister and brother and operating it for almost the last thirty years of his life.
Jim cherished the years he spent with his late first wife, Sue Harrod, who passed away in 1999. Together, they built a life full of love, raising their two children Rebecca Ratliff and James David Harrod, and creating countless cherished memories that will forever be held in the hearts of those who knew them.
In 2007, Jim was blessed with a second chance at love when Jim and Ruth Darlene (Patty) Harrod who had both gone out on a date together while classmates at Denison high school were reunited after both losing the love of their lives, found love and companionship in one another getting married and enjoyed 16 years of marriage.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; his children, Rebecca and David; his siblings' John Albert Harrod, Bettye Jane Russell, Ruth Bowley, and Linda Ridinger; grandchildren; Cole Harrod, Austin Harrod, Jason Harbor; and a host of friends and other relatives.
Jim was predeceased by Diette Swan who was raised by Jim and Sue. And his son-in-law Victor Ratliff Jr.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Raymond England officiating. Private interment. Family and friends will gather to visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Fisher Funeral Home.
