Charles Senter
Charles "Chuck" Senter passed away peacefully at his Fresno, California, home with his family at his side.
He was born in Seattle, Washington, to Charles and Clara Senter. Raised in Everett, he graduated from Everett High School in 1942. During WWII, he was a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps, flying the P-38 Lightning. During the war, he met and married his lifetime sweetheart, Mardell Anderson.
He studied art at Denver University and the Los Angeles Art Center. Most of his art career was with the Fresno Bee, where he was Art Director for 38 years before retiring. His artwork is cherished and displayed in the homes of family members and friends.
Charles and Mardell enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and Europe, but his favorite trips were to his boyhood summer home at Spee-Bi-Dah Beach. He was actively involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren and was a great role model to his family. His marriage to Mardell has been a beautiful love story.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Howard and Richard Senter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mardell; sisters, Clara Holcomb and Marilyn Logan; brothers, David and Donald Senter; his children and spouses, Sheila and Ed Metzler, Gary and Gayle Senter, and Connie and Bob Wright; four grandchildren and seven great-grand-children.
Charles was a kind, gentle man with a keen wit and wonderful sense of humor.
Remembrances may be sent to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where Charles was a devoted member for 56 years, at 785 N. Fowler Avenue, Clovis, CA 93611.
