What a sad, and unexpected, loss. My husband and I first met Kurt in 1999 when he was at American Production Services, which became Victory Studios. We were editing a documentary as first-time documentarians and he couldn't have been more helpful, understanding, and professional. We kept in touch periodically over the years, even after we moved to North Carolina. My last contact with him was last year by email when we talked about his beautiful photography. It was quite a shock when the man who was our editor for our documentary, and who still works in the industry in the Seattle area, contacted me to let me know that Kurt had passed away. My husband and I wish to give our heartfelt condolences to his family.

Gosh, I was just getting to know Kurt. He helped me solve a problem in photography that was confounding me. We had a good lunch meeting and were planning more. For both of us our passion is photography. I remember him as a congenial, mild mannered man who was very skillful in his craft. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and extend my sincere condolences to his family. Ken Johnsen.

If you've worked in our field in this city over the past few decades then you had to have known Kurt. He was always so quick with a smile or a laugh - and he fit in so perfectly and worked so effortlessly that it's only now that he's gone that you realize the magnitude of the loss. He was that kind of person, and we were very sad to hear the news. We sincerely wish his family the very best during this time, and Kurt, you are already missed.

Rest In Peace Dearest Kurt. No one will ever replace your heart and spirit. I'm honored to be part of your journey.
With love,

I always enjoyed working with Kurt in the late 70's and early 80's. He was my mentor and my supervisor to this dumb and uninitiated kid from Boise. I also worked with and for Kurt in the non broadcast side of communications for many years. His professionalism is sorely missed. Thanks for several decades of friendship and professional endeavors, Kurt!

Kurt was very possibly responsible for the way my life has
gone for the last 38 years. I worked parttime at KOMO as a
photographer in 1971-72. Kurt was among a group of new young photogs who I looked up to. Kurt was hard on me as a teacher but ready to hand out praise when the "new" kid did good. In 1973 when Kurt became a director I got his fulltime position as photographer. I have been at KOMO ever since. I met my wife at KOMO. My life has gone on from there. One night Kurt took the night news staff
out on his sailboat for an all night party, Connie Thompson
I and others will always remember that as one of the best newsroom gatherings ever. I feel like a pirce of my history
is gone. Stephen Ramaley

Others here have called Kurt "one of the good guys." He was all that and more. Quick to laugh and always willing to help, Kurt is gone way too soon. I'll miss you, my friend.

Kurt, your Spirit will always bring great Joy in my heart. You'll be missed, but never forgotten. You were definately one of the nicest men in the business... May your next Journey be all you want it to be.
Much love, Soos

I had the privilege of working with Kurt for many years at KOMO-TV when he served as a director and as Production Manager. We maintained our friendship over the years and I'm grateful we connected with each other frequently the last few years. Though he was very easy-going, he always got things done on time and on budget. Thank you for the many years of friendship, Kurt. I enjoyed working with you. And thanks for serving our country. RIP, dear friend.

Kurt and I were roommates at a beach house on Brace Point while we worked at KOMO-TV news in the late 60's. He was an artist with any kind of camera - still, film or video and a great teacher.
