James "Jimmy" Rae Massey Sr. FORT MILL - James "Jimmy" Rae Massey Sr., 70, of 1700 Country Lodge Road, left this earth to enter the pearly gates of heaven where he will experience eternal peace in God's loving arms on Monday, October 12, 2015, at his home. A memorial service for Jimmy will be 5 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road IN Rock Hill, S.C. with the Rev. Sandy Perry officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at the home. Jimmy was a man well liked by many and enjoyed life to it's fullest. Being raised in a military family, he was fortunate to see parts of the world many of us only dream about. With his slow Southern drawl and easy going manner, Jimmy was always in his mischievous mode. His favorite pasttime was taking a ride to the country and enjoying the beauty of nature while reminiscing about the good old days. Yes, Jimmy was a fireball to be reckoned with when he got excited about something, but he was also the first one in the room to make a joke which brought about much laughter. Jimmy was born in Lancaster County, S.C. and was the son of the late SFC Thomas W. Massey Jr. and the late Ellie Maie Howey Massey. He was a member of the St. John United Methodist Church in Fort Mill and a retired truck driver in the construction industry. He was also a member of the Fort Mill Moose Lodge. In addition to his parents, Mr. Massey was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas W. Massey III and William R. Massey. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Rabon Massey; his son, James R. Massey Jr. of Fort Mill; his stepdaughter, Sheila Mill-stead and husband, Smokey; his grandchildren, Katelyn Massey, Carl Cooke Jr. and Dennis Lee Motes; his brother, Michael E. Massey and wife, Ellen of Van Wyck; his sisters, Ellie M. Senne and husband, Stan of Greene, Iowa, Patricia M. Tarlton of Fort Mill and Barbra M. Griffin and husband, Charles Hughes of Fort Mill.
