Dorothy Zoleand Koshar of St. Joseph was called home to meet her Lord and Savior on Feb. 27, 2023 in Bishop, Calif.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, March 13, at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. following the visitation at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Dorothy was born on Jan. 9, 1930, in Benton Harbor to Ted and Corena Zoleand.
She attended Spinks Corners Grade School and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1948. She helped on the family farm and was employed by an attorney during her senior year. Dorothy was employed by V-M Corp. for three years, Heath Co. for 16 years, Whirlpool Corp. for five years and also 23 years at her husband's business in St. Joseph.
Dorothy loved her home, family and friends. She looked forward to visits from her daughter, Debbie, and grandchildren who live in San Diego, and who she would sometimes visit. She enjoyed going to the Smoky Mountains with her husband every year, and in prior years, traveling to Florida.
She loved going to the beach in St. Joseph and taking her dog, Heidi, for walks there and also going to Shipshewana with her husband, relatives and friends. Dorothy attended Bible Study Fellowship for a number of years, which she thoroughly enjoyed and which enriched her life in learning more about the Bible and her Lord and Savior.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Debra (Brink) Fuentes; six granddaughters: Sarah (Jesus) Lopez, Rebecca Fuentes, Rachel (Eddie) Perez, Hannah (Howard) Stanley, Naomi (Sam) Smith and Leah Fuentes; a grandson, David Fuentes; three great-granddaughters: Hazel, Angel and Arianna; four great-grandsons Isaiah, Elijah, Eddie Jr., and Howard Jr., and two great-great-grandchildren: Aleigha and Noah all residing in California. Also surviving are two cousins: Evelyn Spies and Arthur (Barbara) Scherer; Larry (Toni) Spies, Steven (Ashley) Spies, Jacki (Joey) Truman and many friends.
Dorothy (Dorsey) is also survived by her best friend, Sandy Beavers and Sandy's son, Scott.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Rudy J. Koshar Sr.; her parents and grandparents; grandson, Samual J. Fuentes; cousins: Delores Drach and Leroy Schuab; her first husband, Jay Brink, and her beloved canine companion, Heidi.
