Sarasota-John McIntyre passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, April 16, 2018 at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Marguerite McIntyre.
John was born November 30, 1931 in Holton Maine, son of the late Hugh McIntyre and Thelma (McBride) McIntyre. He graduated as valedictorian and class president in Presque Isle, Maine. He then moved to Connecticut where he raised his family in Plainville, Connecticut before retiring to Sarasota, Florida.
After serving as a Navy reservist, John was employed by Parsons Buick in Plainville, CT until his retirement. He was a member of the Elks, the American Legion and Pequabuck Golf Club. John had a love for golf, playing cards, cheering on his Red Sox, Uconn Huskies, traveling with Marguerite, doing his crossword and jumbles, and throwing out his famous one-liners that always drew smiles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Robin Green and her husband Brian, Jeff McIntyre and his wife Gail, Lori Wallace and her husband Ronald, Todd McIntyre and his wife Vicki, step-daughter Debra Provost and her husband Robert, step-son Greg Tomcheski and his wife Julie; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
John was predeceased by his sister Norma Bannell and brother Vernon McIntyre.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Legion, 7 Race Avenue, Plainville, CT 06062. Services will be held in Connecticut on a future date to be determined.
