Ed Ripley was born in Oneida New York and relocated with his family to Venice while he was in grade school. He graduated from Venice High School in 1954. He attended Stetson University and served in the US Army before embarking on a successful career in radio broadcasting. He was a popular on-air personality at radio stations in New Orleans, Minneapolis, and Tampa before enjoying success as a station executive. The last part of his career was spent at 3M in Rochester, MN. Ed loved all things radio and had amassed an impressive collection of vintage tube radios and advertising. He created an eBay store and for the next ten years "olddiscjockey" sold and shipped his collectibles around the world. Ed was a talented singer songwriter; recording many of his songs and sharing his devotion to God through his music. He returned to Venice to enjoy retirement in the place he loved and knew well. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church before relocating to Bradenton when his health began to decline. Predeceased by his father, Robert M. Ripley; and his mother Dorothy Shroyer of Venice. He is survived by his brother Peter Ripley, Mokane, Mo; daughter Rhonda, Bradenton; son Adam, Riverview, four grandchildren, one great grandson, and many dear friends.
