William M. (Bill) DeYoung, age 81, of Venice, FL, formerly of Cleveland Ohio died Thursday afternoon, September 13, 2012. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William and Mary DeYoung.
Bill was born and grew up in Chicago, IL where he graduated from Pullman Tech High School in the Class of 1948. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 and was a veteran of the Korean War. After the war Bill continued his education and work for the Illinois Central Rail Road. He met the love of his life, Anita Gibertini; they married in 1955 and had 4 wonderful children, Denise, Thomas, Janean and Douglas.
Bill had a very successful career in finance with the Sherwin Williams Paint Co. Bill continued his education while providing for his family. He graduated from The University of Chicago with a Masters degree in Business Administration. In 1973 he moved to Hinckley, Ohio bought a small farm and worked in Cleveland for the balance of his career until he retired and moved to Venice, FL in 1991.
Bill was a great husband and father; he juggled a busy schedule but was always there to support his family, either at Scouting, 4-H, FFA or High School activities. Bill loved taking family vacations and always looked forward to spending time with his family. In his later years Bill and Anita spent time enjoying playing golf and spending time together. A quick glance around his home and you would realize Bill was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife Anita, and 4 children: Thomas (Pamela) Riverview, FL, Douglas (Patti) Venice, FL, Denise DeYoung Chicago, IL, and Janean (Mark) Yankowskas Atlanta, GA; 7 grandchildren: Jason, Nick, Brooke, Ryan, Matthew, Rachel, and Joseph; 4 great-grandchildren: Peter, Nathan, Anita, and Danika. Bill also leaves a sister, Annette Chandler of St. Louis, MO.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday Sept 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
