March 21, 1932 - August 31, 2022
Robert Ernest Propst Sr. of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at Trinity Village of Hickory.
He was born March 21, 1932, to the late Theodore and Carrie Propst. Robert was a devoted husband to the late Margie Propst for 65 years and a proud father of six children. Robert spent his career in the furniture industry. After retirement, he enjoyed selling items at the flea market. Throughout his life, Robert was known for his love of gardening, hunting and fishing with friends. He had a soft spot for animals.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Margie; and daughter, Denise Roberts.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Karen Harris and husband, Leroy of Hickory, Joan Bolick of Hickory, Vickie Rogers and husband, Wayne of Hickory, Robert Propst Jr. and wife, Regina of Granite Falls and and Darrell Propst of Hickory; grandchildren, Kevin Harris, Christy Hoke, Sonya Bolick, Angie Short, Michael Roberts, Kim Empalmado, Jerry Rogers and Kali Hodge. Robert was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Robert's life will be held Sunday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m., in the Hickory Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m., prior to the service. Pastor David Ziehr will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
