Clark Willis Obituary
Clark was born on June 8, 1943, in Montpelier, Idaho. He was the youngest of the four sons of Elijah and Norma Willis. Clark grew up in Laketown, Utah, on the family farm where there was an abundance of work to be shared by all.
Clark began his educational journey at North Rich Elementary in Laketown and continued there through the eighth grade. His high school years were spent at Cokeville High School in Wyoming. Clark excelled in athletics and had fond memories of those who supported him in those endeavors. He was recognized as Wyoming's Most Valuable Player in basketball two years in a row.
Clark attended USU where he graduated with a master's degree in Agricultural Economics. During his college years, he played basketball until a knee injury ended his career. He was also a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, where he gained many lifelong friends. He also met his wife, Patty Baugh, at that time.
Clark and Patty were married in the Logan Temple on Dec. 29, 1969. They are the parents of twins, Deana (Joshua) Campbell and Brandon (Vickie) Willis. Clark was a proud and supportive father who adored his children.
Clark's professional career involved real estate and farming. He took over the family farm where he raised sheep and crops. He then began growing various berries as his son, Brandon, began adding them to the ranch.
Throughout his life, Clark maintained a passion for agriculture, particularly the sheep industry. He was involved in both state and national sheep organizations, where he gained additional friends.
Clark was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the Central British Mission until he was involved in a bicycle accident. He returned home for the surgery and completed his mission in the California South Mission. Years later, he and his wife served in the Logan Temple as officiators and most recently they served in the Young Single Adult 3rd Stake.
Clark is survived by his wife, children and "best buddies," grandchildren, Conner, Clark, Caleb and Craig Campbell. He treasured his time with them telling stories of the ranch, which were often embellished, as well as bringing them to the farm to work.
Clark has two brothers, McKay (Jean) and Cardon (Joan) Willis. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother Reed (Jeanette) Willis.
A viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 15, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street in Logan. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at the Lundstrom Park LDS 2nd Ward, 1260 E. 1600 North. A viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the funeral.

Brandon, I was so sad to see the passing of your dad, Clark. We had so much fun working together in the College of Agriculture. He was truly a credit to the sheep producers of the area, and was a tremendous alum of the College of Agriculture. May the Lord bless you and your family during this time of mourning with peace, and then with the joy that comes from remembering a life well lived.

I was sad to learn of Clark's death. He and your family hosted the NCERA 214 sheep research group at the Bear Lake ranch a couple of years ago. I'll always remember his hospitality and the wonderful lamb meal we were provided. His death is a big blow to the sheep industry as well as to your family.

We are so sorry to hear about Clark's passing. He stopped by my Logan office about 2 weeks ago and we had a nice visit, I'm grateful for that. I met Willis only two and a half years ago when I started to facilitate the Lamb Industry Roadmap Project. Clark made an invaluable contribution to this process. I came to have the greatest respect and affection for him. He was a genuine leader and a gracious gentleman. When he spoke, I listened. I will miss him.

I provide my sincere condolences to the Willis family.
Clark was a colleague and friend as we worked together to find ways to improve his ranch operations through agricultural research. We worked together in this capacity for 9 years as he, Brandon, and I selected new and improved grasses to improve his spring and fall sheep grazing operations. Additionally, he was a trusted and active member of the Logan-based, USDA Forage and Range Research Laboratory's Focus Group Executive Committee.
Truly a gentlemen in all his dealing with men, he sought to improve the lot of all those around him through his acts and infectious positive demeanor. Of particular note in this regard was his sustained interest in helping his South American sheep herder employees. Personally, I learned much about his love for his sheep band and his commitment to the land.
I will miss his mentorship and friendship greatly.

Brandon: We are in Maryland this week where Caytee gave birth to their third child (a girl this time) on May 5. We regret that we are not closer and able to attend your father's funeral. We have been advised of his passing by several of the many people who knew and loved your dad.
Thank you for your enduring friendship and positive example. We treasure the years we spent with you in Chicago and know that your father is well in his new and heavenly home. It is now our task to emulate his good life, and you are certainly doing so!
