DeAnn Redmond Obituary

DeAnn Aller Benson Redmond returned to her Heavenly Father June 16, 2023 in Syracuse, Utah. She transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home surrounded by all of her children following a life-long battle with respiratory issues. She and her twin sister DiAnn were born in Weston, Idaho July 28, 1944 to Serge and Bondean Benson. They grew up hard-working "country girls." DiAnn (her "womb-mate") was her constant friend and companion through "thick and thin." They graduated from West Side High School in May, 1962.

DeAnn moved to Salt Lake City after high school, attending LDS Business College and graduating with a degree in Secretarial Science in 1963. Her first jobs included Zion's Book Store, LDS Church YMMIA (assisting Joseph Fielding Smith), First Security Corporation, and Utah State Retirement Office. During that time, DeAnn was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her bubbly personality made her a natural for the Activities Committee, where she served with a returned missionary by the name of Spencer Redmond. They married May 6, 1966 in the Logan LDS Temple. Poor but happy, DeAnn and Spencer worked hard building a life together. In 1970, Spencer joined the Utah Highway Patrol. That meant travel all over Utah until they settled in Box Elder County in 1975.

DeAnn spent countless hours coaching and chauffeuring five energetic kids while Spencer worked multiple jobs. She also served as PTA President for Garland Elementary and Northern Box Elder County PTA President. Her church callings included Boy Scouts, Young Women's, and for many years as Relief Society chorister. DeAnn was always willing to help a neighbor or friend, not to mention her parents and her siblings, through multiple health crises and life stressors. She has a testimony of the Savior and of service. She lived a life of service to others and is a good friend to many.

DeAnn returned to the work force in 1984, working at Box Elder County Juvenile Court for a few years before moving to Utah State University where she served the colleges of Family Life and Secondary Education. Her children who attended USU could drop by her office to see her, which she loved. DeAnn juggled Relief Society President duties in the Garland East Ward while helping her parents and her sister Jackie battle health issues. She finally retired in 2007 to spend more time with Spencer, taking road trips to the California and Oregon coasts and a cruise to Alaska.

One of the most difficult challenges of her life was leaving her friends in East Garland following Spencer's passing June 23, 2014. DeAnn moved to Syracuse, UT to a senior retirement community closer to family and siblings. Her love for others helped her make good friends. The "Trailside Ladies" have been a huge blessing in her life. In true DeAnn fashion, she arranged neighborhood lunch outings and parties, even during COVID. She said she'd "rather die than be lonely." She was a friend and listening ear. She loved watching Jazz games with grandchildren or friends, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, doing family history, or playing loud music and dancing around her house. Her love of family and friends kept her vibrant and active until her body's "get up and go had got up and gone."

DeAnn is survived by her children Troy (Heather) Redmond, Gina (Timothy) Ward, Leslie (Shane) Perkins, Micah (Cristina) Redmond, and Mandy (Jeremy) Webb, as well as 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Spencer Redmond, her parents Serge and Bondean Benson, her siblings DiAnn Hale, Jackie Benson, Debra Benson, Shane Benson, and Christine Benson.

Our Savior´s Eternal Love

know that as DeAnn, walked

through life´s many challenges,

know that my atoning love has been

with DeAnn, as her love has been

with me, all throughout her life on Earth.

And now that DeAnn´s time has come and

she leaves her home and family on earth.

Know that we now walk together in her

restored youth, and I reintroduce DeAnn

to her love Spencer, family members and friends,

who are here to greet her, as we walk together

along the beautiful flower lined paths

of our eternal home.
