Alan Barbee Obituary

Alan Montgomery Barbee
1953-2016
Alan Montgomery Barbee passed away on Thursday June 23, 2016 after a long fought valiant battle with cancer. Alan was born in Sinton, Texas to Emma Polk Barbee and Raburn Burnel Barbee Jr. on August 15, 1953. Alan is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Malorie Beth Barbee and the sunshine of his life, daughter Stephanie Marci Barbee and future son-in-law, Allen Ray Sparkman; his brothers, Raburn Burnel Barbee III and his wife Sandy of Baytown, Texas and Rocky Milam Barbee of Portland, Texas. Alan was a driven man whose career spanned across many areas. In his free time Alan enjoyed collecting coins and Texas tokens, attending estate and garage sales, and most recently gambling in Lake Charles. More than any of these things, Alan loved being with his family and making them laugh with one of his many stories or jokes.
At Alan's request his ashes will be scattered at his beloved family land in Red Rock, Texas. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions in Alan's memory can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center at gifts.mdanderson.org or the Houston SPCA at 900 Portway Dr. Houston, Texas 77024 or 713-869-7722. The family would like to thank Dr. Craig A. Kovitz of Millennium Oncology in addition to Dr. Mark S. Chambers and the Acute Palliative Care Unit of MD Anderson Cancer Center for their high levels of competence and continuous care of Alan.

It saddens me to hear about Alan's passing. He was a very knowledgeable person who help me greatly in the safety field. He was a one of a kind person. I will keep his family in our family prayers.

Alan was an amazing man! It was such a joy to work with him for 13 years. He taught me so much. Such a great sense of humor and a wealth of knowledge. He adored his family and spoke of them often. He was so very proud of his daughter. I am so glad he got to see her graduate from college. It meant so much to him. I miss him!
