Curran Rehm Obituary

Curran Kenneth Rehm
1988-2018
Curran Kenneth Rehm, 29, of Houston, TX, was found deceased on the 15th of April 2018, after disappearing on the 12th of April 2018. He was born on 31st of October 1988, and was the first of three children of Kevin and Linda Rehm.
Curran attended Saint Thomas More grade school and Bellaire High School in Houston, TX. In college, he studied Architecture at The University of Arkansas and received a Bachelor of Science in 2011. His bright light and giving heart developed lifelong friendships all along the way.
After completing school, he returned to Houston and began his career with Permaculture Design, creating beautiful outdoor spaces in and around the city. This passion extended into Curran's own wonderful garden in his yard as well as into those of his friends and neighbors. He was quick to show up at your doorstep with an armful of fruit or vegetables from his garden, or to pick some for you while visiting his house in the Fourth Ward. He was a quiet soul with a calming presence and always saw the good in everyone he met.
Curran had a lifelong love of music, taking up the guitar in grade school and playing in several bands throughout his life including The Riff Tiffs, Cadre, and The Nathan Quick Band. Music was his bliss, providing an outlet for expression and within it, found peace. Curran always loved a project, and found joy in things like fixing up a guitar, working on his trucks, writing a song, maintaining his bicycles, designing a landscaping project, and making furniture - he did all these with his unique spirit of giving. He enjoyed camping and taking many road trips with his girlfriend Danielle Blut, and was always up for a visit to the family's fishing camp in Chinquapin, TX with his loved ones. He wanted to fill every spare moment with these adored activities, but no matter how much he had on his plate, if you asked him for anything, he would be more than willing to give you some of his time, energy, talent, and heart.
Predeceased by his beloved grandfather, Frank J. Sica. Those left behind to mourn his absence include parents, Kevin and Linda Rehm; brother, Christopher; sister, Celia; longtime girlfriend Danielle Blut; grandmother, Tina Sica; grandparents Kenneth and Eileen Rehm; numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Curran also leaves behind countless friends and so many other lives his beautiful soul touched during his short time on this earth.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 21st of April, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Curran's memory may be directed to Trees for Houston, P.O. Box 270477, Houston, Texas 77277 or by visiting www.treesforhouston.org. Please identify donations as "Trees for Curran" to continue his legacy of beautifying this city.

In loving memory of Curran Kenneth Rehm,

He was my best friend through a rough try college. He kept me sane and made me laugh. He encouraged me to be a better version of myself. People as good as Curran aren't supposed to die young. This is a shock and I just wish I knew what happened to my friend.

It is never easy to lose a loved one, especially at such a young age. Please find comfort in God's promise found at John 6:40 which says that soon we will see all our loved ones again.
My deepest condolences

I am very sorry I never had the chance to meet Curran but I felt like I knew him well.
My good friend Tom Rooney told me about his many jam sessions with and of Curran's musical adventures.
Several years ago I was lucky enough to meet and record music with Chris and Sean which gave me a sense of connection to Curran as well.
But one of the most unlikely and in some ways the most profound connections was a shared a relative in the oddball Kay/Epiphone I originally fumbled together in 1994, which I gave to Tom who then gave it to Curran.
I always thought I'd meet, play music and discuss Curran's modifications, improvements and spirit he imbued into the slapdash-o-caster.
Its not just that he adopted a guitar I once played, but it was learning about Curran and how he saw something in the not-so-pretty duckling. And with his sensitivity and creativity he turned what I thought was a jalopy, into a work of art in which he created more musical works of art!
I have no doubt that Curran brought the same spirit to everything and everyone who was lucky enough to share some time with him.
My sincerest condolences to your family - rest easy Curran.
