Diane Simpson Obituary

Diane Smith Simpson died Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in Houston, Texas.
Diane was born in Wharton, Texas on June 6, 1935, to Laura Housworth and Travis Logan Smith III, and became a resident of Houston in 1937. Diane attended St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio and graduated from Lamar High School in Houston in 1953. That same year, she married her loving lifetime partner, Donald Glenn Simpson, and moved to Harlingen AFB to join her husband who was serving on active duty with the U.S. Air Force as a navigation instructor. Upon his honorable discharge in 1955, they moved back to Houston. They lived on Whitman Street for many years before moving to The Hallmark.
Diane and Don celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2003. She and Don established both "Sul Ross" Corps and President's Endowed Scholarships at Texas A&M University.
Following Don's death, Diane enjoyed the fellowship and living experience at The Hallmark. She was grateful for the care she received for many years and especially for Joyce Pablo and Rhonda Geriet.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband. She is survived by several cousins of the Smith family.
A funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in the Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
The family will gather for a private interment at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston.
