Edward Locheed Obituary

LOCHEED
1942-2019
Edward Wilson Locheed, Jr. P.E. was born on December 4, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Edward W. Locheed, Sr. and Mildred Wroten Locheed. He died on October 12, 2019 at the age of 76 after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease.
He will be missed by his loving family: Suzanne Locheed - the love of his life and wife of 55 years; daughter Jessica Locheed and her husband Tom Frank; daughter Alicia Locheed Goodrow and her husband Henry Goodrow and their children Haley and Zachary; his brother Tom Locheed and his wife Laurie; his brother-in-law Russell Brinkman and his wife Carol. Family was at the center of Ed's life from the time of his Houston childhood which was filled with dozens of aunts, uncles, and cousins sharing their joys and sorrows and faith together.
He excelled as a student, swimmer, diver, cheerleader, and Eagle Scout at Jones High. At the University of Texas, he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and on the swim team while earning his B.S. in electrical engineering. Later he completed his M.S. in electrical engineering and an M.B.A. at the University of Houston. This led to a life of innovation in control systems engineering starting with the earliest mainframe computers and culminating in the complex workings with the Alyeska Pipeline in Alaska. He treasured his opportunities to design systems around the globe and work in places as diverse as Panama, the North Sea and Vietnam.
Ed grew up in Garden Villas Baptist Church, became a member of Faith Lutheran Church after marriage, and played a long-term leadership role at Memorial Drive Lutheran Church over 40 years of membership teaching Sunday School, serving on Church Council, and chairing various committees. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Memorial Drive Lutheran Church, 12211 Memorial Drive, Houston, Tx 77024 or to the Houston Area Parkinson Society, 2700 Southwest Freeway Suite 296, Houston, Tx 77098 or to the charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2353 Rice Boulevard, Houston, Tx 77005 on Friday, October 25th at 12:00.

Suzanne,

You may not remember me, but Eddie and I went to Garden Villas Elementary, graduated from high school and were the only two in engineering school at UT.

I last saw Eddie at our 50th high school reunion where we had a very nice conversation. Our lives were similar in that we both went on to get MBA's and both of us had two daughters.

Eddie was a first class guy. Bless you and your family, as you were blessed to spend a lifetime with Eddie. I will miss his service, as I spend half the year in Maine. I will have him in my thoughts.

Suzanne,

I don't know if your remember me, but Eddie and I started elementary school at Garden Villas and were the only two at engineering school at UT. We both went on to earn MBA's. The similarities go on as we both had two daughters to spoil.

I last saw Eddie at our 50th high school reunion where we had a nice conversation about our lives and he was experiencing Parkinson's start.

Eddie was a first class guy and the world needs a lot more Eddies. Bless you and your family as you were blessed with a lifetime with Eddie.
