Georgiana Zustovich Obituary

Georgiana Hedges Zustovich
1941-2022
Georgiana Hedges Zustovich, 80, of Houston, Texas, passed away after a severe illness on Sunday January 9, 2022. She was born on September 24, 1941 in the Bronx, New York to Ira and Betty Hedges. She is survived by her son Peter Hedges Zustovich, daughter-in-law Ashley Brockette Zustovich, and granddaughter Elizabeth Hazel.
Georgiana was raised in Rockland County and came to NYC at 18 where she graduated from Hunter College and met her husband, Alfred. Upon relocating to Houston, Georgiana continued to work in social service and advocate for justice, earning her MSW from UH. She and Al returned often to NY, traveled to Europe & the Holy Land, and mentored local youth. After 53 years together, she mourned Al's passing in 2019 but rejoiced in the arrival of Elizabeth in 2021.
Georgiana was grace personified, a constant friend whose steady reserve belied an arch wit and keen mind. She inspired and reciprocated the love and loyalty of a legion of friends and family.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, January 21 at 1 PM at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive in Houston. Masks are encouraged and the service will be live-streamed. Visit www.DettlingFuneral.com to leave words of condolence.
