1952-2018
Dr. Janet Hoagland Sorensen, 66, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. As a breast cancer surgeon and a survivor herself, Janet saved and touched many lives throughout her 30-year career. The best of doctors, wives, mothers, and women, Janet was a constant inspiration to others and an advocate for all. Her legacy of love and selfless devotion lives on through her six children Brynna, Julia, Kristen, Sonja, Anja and Hunter. As well as her two brothers, Tony and Chris Hoagland and her step-mother Judy Hoagland.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 20, 2018 with a memorial service beginning at two o'clock in the afternoon followed by a reception at the Bradshaw-Carter Home.
In Janet's memory and in lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Cancer Fighters of Houston Inc. and the Houston Chapter of the Susan G Komen Foundation.

My condolences pour out to the entire Hoaglad-Sorensen family. I knew Dr. Hoagland and worked for her late husband for several years and Dr. Hoagland was such an inspirational person. She always gave to the community and her heart was immense. May she fly with the angels above.

I am so sorry for your loss, I,met Dr. Hoagland when I was working at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. She was a Beautiful person inside and out, she always had a pleasant smile on her face, After I retired I Often thought about her. May she rest in peace I will be Praying for strength for The Hoagland Sorensen family

Dr. Hoagland was an angel on earth but now at peace in heaven with Jim. I will always remember her beautiful smile and encouraging words of wisdom. She gave freely her compassion and extensive knowledge of cancer recovery to fellow survivors. My heart goes out to this beautiful family and my prayers for your peace.

I am so sorry to hear about Jan. In addition to being cousins, she and I were roommates in Albuquerque in the early 70's. My family and I are so proud of her accomplishments. She will be missed!

Our adored friend and neighbor Janet has left many gifts to be honored. Better still, to be copied. Her constant grace comforted anyone in her presence. Her purposeful life had lots of capacity for achievement, yet not an inch for complaint.
