Jean Esterak Thompson

JEAN ESTERAK THOMPSON "MIMI" was born January 8, 1920, in Brenham, Washington County, Texas. She was the oldest of three children born to Emma Adelaide Muller and Jerry Frank Esterak. She died after a long illness on August 19, 2002, at her home in Rosenberg, Fort Bend County, Texas. She attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas. Jean married O.C.(Tommy) Thompson on September 19, 1942. They were married for 58 years, until his death October 29, 2000. Jean worked as the Society Editor for the Fort Bend Mirror; she and her husband owned and operated Ft. Bend Employment Agency and Thompson Real Estate in Rosenberg until they retired and moved to Pecan Brook Farm in Simonton in 1975. They moved to Rosenberg in 1998 to an apartment at the home of their son and his family. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce Esterak Pazderny. Jean is survived by her sister, Merle Esterak Galloway; her daughter, Gerry Gaye Thompson; daughter, Rebecca Thompson Owen and husband, Dan R. Owen, Jr.; and son, Brian Esterak Thompson and wife, April Wylie Thompson; eight grandchildren, Breton Foster Barrier and wife, Marisa, Ame` Rebecca Barrier, Dan Thomas Owen, Lane Herfort Thompson, Elise Adrianne Thompson, Will Aaron Thompson, Marshall Edward Thompson, Audrey Deon Thompson; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Foster Barrier and Autumn Renee Barrier. The family wishes to thank Mimi's caregivers, Delia Campion, Jayne Sefuentes, Maria Vasquez, Josie Caro, Jammie Schaatt, and hospice workers, Odessa Moses and Joe Hochman, R.N., whose help enabled the family to keep Mimi in her home until her death. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the nonprofit Hospice Support Inc., 1102 N. Mechanic, El Campo, TX 77437, would be greatly appreciated. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Ave.J and 3rd St., Rosenberg, TX, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 24, 2002, with Rev. Jerry Galloway and Rev.
