MABEL MARGARET (MUGGY) PHILIPS, 91, died peacefully at her home on April 8, 2005. She was born on October 27, 1913 in San Felipe, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Loren C. Philips, sisters Leonie Schaeffer, Lonnie Cob and Cora Preston. She is survived by her sister-in-laws Frances Cawthon and Virginia Humphreys; nephews and nieces Marjorie and Clyde Rutland, Vera Townsend, Patricia Sargent, Jim Hayes, Betty Rose and Robert Engel. She is also survived by great nieces Barbara Jones, Pamela McKellop, Debbie Chisum; numerous great-great nieces and nephews, including Joe Jones, Jr., Jeffrey Jones, Jimmy Jones, Rickey McKellop and Jennifer McKellop, and seven great-great-great nieces and nephews. A devoted employee of Wholesale Electric Supply for 54 years, she leaves many caring friends and co-workers. Not having children of her own, Muggy, as we know her, always had a love and open door to all children---- many to whom she was like a grandmother. Her zest for life, her unwavering devotion to her work, and her kind and generous heart to all who knew her and loved her, will be greatly missed. We love you our Muggy. You will live in our hearts and memories forever. The family would like to thank Cathy, Linda, and Maria, her loving caregivers, and Judy, her Hospice nurse, for their devotion and wonderful care in the last days of her life. Pallbearers will be Joe Jones, Jr., Jeffrey Jones, Jimmy Jones, Rickey McKellop, Pat McLarty, and Dave Mark. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Gardner, Dale Jackson, Red Elder, and Horace Dickson. For those who so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 1235 North Loop West, Suite 215, Houston, Texas 77008. There will be a visitation on Monday, April 11, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale in the Main Chapel with internment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

To all of Mrs. Philips family, and friends.

I'm so sorry to hear about her passing. Mrs. Philips was truly a great lady to know and love. She will be missed by so many people. She was such sweet and giving person.

I remember when I was working at Wholesale. I'd ask her every morning how are you Mrs. Philips?

She would always reply with. “Never had it so good”. You just had to love her!!

I just hope I can be half the lady she was.

I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayer during this time.

God Bless you all.

Sincerely,

Kristin Taylor Saunders

MS. PHILIPS THANK YOU FOR THE NUMEROUS TIMES THAT I CAME TO WORK SO STRESSED OUT FROM THE DAILY GRIND, YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM STILL COME TO MIND, "DARLING IT WILL BE OKAY WHEN WE GET INTO OUR NEW BUILDING." MANY EMPLOYEES WOULD ASK, ARE WE GETTING A NEW BUILDING? MS. PHILIPS THANK YOU FOR MANY CANS OF CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP THAT YOU HAD ON HAND FOR US TO EAT, THAT SAVED A LOT OF US. TO ME MS. PHILIPS YOU WILL ALWAYS BE OUR GUARDIAN ANGEL.I WILL MISS YOU AND ALWAYS THINK OF YOU.I NEED TO GET TO WORK NOW. I LOVE YOU MS. PHILIPS

Muggy,

It's hard to say goodbye to a woman who has done so much for so many. You were like a Grandmother to me. I will never forget our short talks, your generosity, and how you would get on me for not shaving (or I wouldn't get my check).

I've seen people cry, who I never thought would, in your memory. I knew it was coming, and part of me prayed that you would recover and come back to be our Muggy, and the other part of knew knew that I would rather God relieve you of your pain than see you continue to suffer. Still, it is hard to realize that you are gone.

I love you and will always remember you.

I would like to send my prayers out to Muggy's family. I did not know her personally but I am a close and personal friend of Maria Vasquez and her family. I know how much they loved her. I have heard lots of stories about her and how she was an Angel here on earth. I know she will be truly missed.

Dear Mrs. Philips, I'm trying to write something to you for my closure and words and memories either rush or there is silence. We all love you and will miss you so very much. How in the world could I write enough words to tell the many, many stories that still make me laugh.

I can only see you, Dale, Lynn, George, Ben, John, Jim, Barney and Donnie "catching up" on the news. I'm sure Maria has found you by now and is making you laugh and Betty has hugged your neck. Matthew is checking on you to make sure your comfortable. Is that Ronnie Jenkins quietly waiting to say hi?

LOOKS LIKE A BIG WHOLESALE ELECTRIC SUPPLY ~ RETIREMENT PARTY.

Just in case Mr. and Mrs. Rutland read this memo, I want to say THANK YOU FOR STARTING THE COMPANY. As an employee, I want to say....... Thank you.. Thank you.... You should have great comfort to look back and see you have given so much and brought so many together to be friends not just in this life, but forever. I belive God has blessed you and made Wholesale Electric your "ministry" to help people and families. And now you have made sure we are in good hands with Mr. Jones, a man with the heart of Gold.

Mrs. Philips ~ Thank you for the Saturday Morning Breakfasts (100's), the big cakes, the kind words when I was down and the "get with it" words when I wasn't focused. When I was sick, you would say - "we don't have time to be sick" get back to work. If I was going to the restroom and passed you in the hall, you wouldn't look back but as I passed you, you would say "is that trip necessary".

WE LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!!

Well, I must get to work now, I'm afraid you are going to tap me on the shoulder and say "stop this foolishness and get back to work".

I don't think there will ever be anyone as giving and selfless as Muggy. She always wanted to make you smile and make you happy any way she could. I will always remember her wanting to feed me to "fatten me up" every day asking me or "telling" me to get something to eat! I will miss her dearly. There will never be another Muggy. God Bless the family and everyone that loved her so much.

It was my pleasure and honor to care for Mabel (Muggy) Phillips, more than once, in her home.

To know Muggy was to love her. She was truly an Angel on this earth, and loved by many. I could only hope, to accomplish a small portion, that Muggy did in this life. Muggy is a beautiful Lady.
