Myrna Hansen Obituary

Hansen, Myrna Kay

Myrna Kay Hansen age 74 of Manitowoc passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 after a two year battle with cancer.

Myrna was born March 15, 1939 in Ironwood, MI daughter of the late Hugo and Thelma (Johns) Coleman. Myrna graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. She met the love of her life Ronald H. Hansen and was married on July 14, 1956. They would have celebrated 57 years of marriage four days after her death.

Together the couple enjoyed the life of a military family with their four children living in a number of states and England. After Ronald retired from the military, Myrna went back to school at Fox Valley Technical College and received a certificate in Respiratory Therapy. She worked one year at Oshkosh Hospital, part time at Kimberly-Clark Health Center for a short period and eight plus years at Appleton Medical Center as an EKG stress testing technician. In 1988 with Ron's job moving to Milwaukee, they took early retirement, sold the house, moved into a RV fulltime and traveled the country, spending winters in Arizona for 19 years and working some summers at Yellowstone National Park. They returned to Manitowoc in March of 2007. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and St. Faith's Guild. Myrna was an avid reader, crafter and oil painter.

Myrna is survived by her loving husband: Ronald H. Hansen, Manitowoc; four children: Gregory (Lisa Ann) Hansen, Neenah; Cheryl (Barry) Shelton, Stephensville; Jeffrey (Kay) Hansen, Schoefield; Lisa Kay Hansen, Menasha and her special friend Jim; devoted grandmother of Brian (Crystal); Eric and his special friend Sara; Wes and Will; great grandmother of Cameron and Rowan; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Gerald Hansen, Cleveland; Leonard (Barbara) Hansen, Las Vegas, NV; Beverly Bertucci, Arlington Heights, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Hugo and Thelma Coleman; her aunt and uncle: Mona and Carlos Stone; her in-laws: Hans and Winifred Hansen; three brothers-in-law: Frederick Hansen; Richard Hansen; Bruno Bertucci; two sisters-in-law: Laverne Hansen; Diane Hansen; and two cousins: Geraldine Kline and Patricia Hein.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at St. James Episcopal Church, 434 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Diane Murray will officiate with entombment to follow in the Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated for the Holy Family Memorial Medical Cancer Care Center. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com
