David Olson Obituary

On the afternoon of November 11, 2023, Beloved Father and Grandfather David Russell Olson of Buckley, WA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 81 years old. David was born on March 14, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN, the oldest of four children to Lester and Johanna Olson. Growing up in Minnesota, David developed a love for ice skating on beaver ponds, hunting, and fishing. At age 15, the Olson family relocated to Kirkland, WA, where he attended and graduated from Bellevue High School. Soon after, he attended Northwest Bible College, where he was a beloved fixture and comic on campus. It was there that he met his wife, Jacqueline Anderson Olson. The couple married and soon after relocated to Pocatello, Idaho, to help operate the family business, Anderson Mobile Homes, for many years.

During this time, David and Jacque welcomed their two children, Becci and Daniel. The family spent many days boating on the lake and around campfires, laughing with friends. His favorite time of year was hunting with his buddies. For those who knew David and had a connection with him, a nickname would be sure to follow. No one was exempt. David and Jacque served in multiple ministries at Pocatello's First Assembly of God. Over the years, David was loved by his Senior High Sunday School class, who embraced him as a teacher. Today, they still remember the lessons he shared.

In 1984, the family moved to American Falls to enjoy their horses and raise calves. David transitioned to selling cars in the 80s as the economy changed. David and Jacque divorced, and he moved to Buckley, WA, where he continued working. He fully embraced and enjoyed country life throughout his retirement. His favorite job, however, was being Papa to his grandsons.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Johanna Olson, and ex-wife Jacque Olson. He is survived by his children Becci (Jim) Harrell of Redding, California, and Daniel (Shelley) Olson of Easton, Washington. He has six grandchildren: Gavin, Payton, Parker, and Maddie Harrell, Clayton, and Cooper Olson. Surviving Siblings are Janiele (Olson) Smith, Gordon (Dianna) Olson, and PennySue (John) Larsen, all of Washington. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor David, with a lunch to follow at the Buckley Eagles 29021 WA-410 Buckley, WA, on December 27, 2023, at 12:00 pm.

Praying for your whole whole family with David´s home going. David was a blessing in my life, giving me work installing wood stoves when I was working campus ministry, even though it was a steep learning curve for me. We appreciated his ministry at the church under our leadership.
