Ernest Sutton Obituary

Ernest Porter Sutton
Ernest Porter Sutton was born to Ruth Porter and David Wright Sutton on July 15, 1943 in Logan, Utah. Ernie grew up in and left his mark on Preston, Idaho and then moved to Pocatello with his family during his high school years. He graduated from Pocatello High and did his undergraduate studies at Idaho State University.
He married his eternal companion, Charlyne Rose in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on February 28, 1964. They moved their small family to St. Louis, Missouri and attended Dental School at Washington University where he graduated in 1973. They then moved back to Pocatello and he began practicing dentistry; it was his privilege and honor to serve his patients and friends with quality dentistry and a wonderful sense of humor for almost 37 years.
In 2010, after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, Dr. Ernie Sutton retired and began dauntlessly (he didn't want us to use the word "gallantly") fighting to stay with his family as long as possible. He was blessed with 8 good years before passing away peacefully at home with the love of his life by his side on April 28, 2017.
Ernie served faithfully and willingly in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His hobbies included golf, crossword puzzles, reading, golf, cars, watching sports, golf and especially golfing. His most prized possessions in this life were his friends and family, and he made every effort to spend time with those he was closest with. He loved attending his children's and grand-children's sporting and other events and he prided himself on having been a die-hard Bengal fan and Booster/season ticket holder for over 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his 2 sons, Karl James Sutton and E. Durrell Sutton; his parents, David Wright and Ruth Porter Sutton; as well as by Methuselah and a few others.
He is survived by his wife, Charlyne Sutton; 2 daughters, Kelley Packer (Duane Packer) and Stacy Johnson (Dr. Chris Johnson); a daughter-in-law, Traci Larsen Sutton; his favorite child, Bradley Sutton (Kathryn Sutton); a sister, Glenda Sessions; and 2 brothers, D. Porter Sutton and Robert Porter Sutton. He has 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A viewing for Dr. Sutton will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11 am at the LDS chapel, 5425 S. Bannock Hwy (across from Indian Hills Elementary) Pocatello, ID 83204, with a viewing from 9:30 am to 10:45 am Prior.
Burial will follow at the Norton Cemetery, McCammon, ID.
