Anthony Brower Obituary

Anthony ("Tony") LaMont Brower
July 27, 1971 to March 24, 2018
Tony was born on July 27, 1971 in Moscow, Idaho to Robert and Kathleen McCarthy Brower. After a long and debilitating neurodegenerative illness, he died on March 24, 2018. Following his parent's divorce and his mother's remarriage, Tony moved with his mother and stepfather George Anderjack to San Buenaventura, California and then to Nashville, Tennessee, where he completed his elementary and junior high school education and was named Duke University Scholar for his exemplary achievements. For high school, Tony returned to live with his father and stepmother Shirley Brower in Lewiston, Idaho.
After his graduation from Lewiston High School, Tony joined the United States Army and earned his reputation as "Private Brower." He initially was stationed at Fort Drum, New York and then was transferred to the Republic of South Korea, where he developed a passion for Asian culture. After serving a three-year term, he ended his military career and enrolled in the University of Idaho, where he studied production and operations management and completed his degree.
While attending university, he distinguished himself from other students with his highly focused and disciplined nature and worldly and well-read perspective. During that time, he met fellow business student, Rachelle Young, and formed an unbreakable, life-long bond of friendship. That friendship evolved into love, which culminated in their marriage on June 8, 1996. After their graduation, Tony and Rachelle moved to Boise, Idaho to begin their careers. Tony began his over twenty-year employment with Micron Technology in Fab 1 manufacturing, where his dedication and drive quickly earned him the nickname "Bulldog." He advanced in his career there in ever more responsible positions in business planning and strategy and played a key role in the acquisition and integration of Elpida Memory. It was then that Tony and Rachelle moved to Tokyo, Japan, representing Micron's business interests, with their son, Alexander.
On July 27, 2004, Rachelle gave Tony the most precious gift for his birthday by giving Tony their only child, a son, Alexander. Tony opened the world to "Alex" through his funny stories, business ideas, hikes, world travels and a shared interest in cars. As a family, they travelled throughout the United States and to foreign countries developing an appreciation for cultural diversity and adventure.
Tony is survived by his wife Rachelle and his son Alexander of Boise, Idaho; his father and stepmother Robert and Shirley Brower of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; his stepfather George Anderjack of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister Helana Garrett (Maynard) of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister Anna Sophia Luckett (Daniel) of Lexington, Kentucky; a sister Alexandra Merrick (Shayne) of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; a stepbrother Chris Shawver of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; and a stepsister Tammie Sherry of Seattle, Washington. He is preceded in death by his mother Kathleen McCarthy Anderjack, who died in 2002.
Following interment in the Idaho Veterans Cemetery, a Celebration of Life will be held in the Meditative Garden at the Idaho Botanical Gardens in Boise, Idaho on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 12 o'clock in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Tony's memory to the ALS Association (ALS.org).

A Friend

July 27, 2018

I met Tony a few years ago at a professional board meeting. He was smart, but compassionate about his work. He understood how to give direction, but placed understanding behind his actions. This is the terrible loss of a tremendous talent.

I have admired and loved Tony for many years for his many strengths, talents and qualities: his gentle and loving nature, his genuine goodness and kindness, his intelligence and understanding of all that is important, his loyalty and capacity of friendship, his fierce determination and courage to persevere, his articulation, sense of fairness, and all that is meaningful in this world and good.

My heart aches for Rachelle and Alexander. Tony shared a life-long loving relationship with his wife and his son that is beyond words and will endure forever. We shall all miss our Tony with us, but he will continue to live in our hearts and minds. We shall love and cherish memories of our Tony always.

With condolences and love,
George
