Maria Harbin, 30, of Meridian, passed away on September 17, 2014 at her home.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Bowman Funeral Parlor.

To the Harbin family:
You must know that this news has devastated me and my son Shaw Griffin whom Maria mentored in martial arts. Impoverished during my graduate studies, Maria gave me clothing and shoes, which is a majority of my wardrobe today...each day that I adorn a piece of the clothing I think of her...especially the brand new pink dress coat that she gave to me which will always make me remember her. She was an extraordinary woman whom shared many precious conversations with me about her outlook on life. She loved the Lord and she loved her family sooo much. Words cannot express my sadness of her departure to heavenly peace. We thank the entire Harbin family for the spiritual light that was given to me and my family through Christian love and kindness. Uncle Johnnie who is doing fine also sends his condolences. Please remember that Maria is not gone, she lives in us all whose lives she touched. I think of her each day, especially as I adorn the clothing that she so generously gave to me. May GOD bless such a loving Christian family, the Harbins, and I will keep a plant, and water it in Maria's memory as she will forever live in our hearts.

I am just now reading this.....To the Harbin family, We are so sorry for this loss of such a beautiful life. So many treasured memories of times spent with Maria. While the sorrow of missing her is here with us, we know that Heaven shines so much brighter as she is there forever more with our Lord and Savior- Jesus Christ.

You will not remember us, but we followed your ministry from the Institute to your respite home in France, as members of Greenville Christian Fellowship. We were told of Maria's passing last night, & our hearts were touched as we also have children of a similar age. She is a beautiful young lady & our prayers are with you for comfort and peace. Dear Harbin family, I've been praying for you ever since I heard. I only got to meet Maria once at Hannah's wedding, but I really enjoyed the time with your family. One of my favorite books is Isaiah and towards the end it says, "As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you [says the Lord]" (66:13). Brahms set this text in his beautiful Requiem. May the God of comfort be with you.
