Raymond Sievers Obituary

Raymond A. Sievers
1929 - 2016
Raymond Arthur Sievers, 87, of Boise, ID passed away from natural causes on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. He was born on March 20, 1929 near Staunton, IL to Arthur and Stella Sievers.
Ray grew up farming in Illinois with his parents and two sisters. As an adult, he worked a variety of jobs in the farming industry and then served in the Army during the Korean War. He married his wife of 50 years (Nordella) October 9, 1954 and they lived in the Litchfield, IL area for three years before moving to Idaho to look for better job opportunities. In Boise, Ray worked many years as an upholsterer at Economy Mattress and then retired from Boise Water Corporation with 23 years of service. Ray also served in the Idaho Air National Guard at Gowen Field for 20+ years.
Ray had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed puttering on many projects in his shop and garage, gardening (especially roses), locksmithing and fishing. He also spent several years as a volunteer fire fighter for the Whitney Fire District. He belonged to the Scottish Rite Lodge and served as Worthy Patron with Eastern Star in Boise. He was a member of First Congregational and Wright Congregational churches and attended several Baptist churches over the years. Most of all, Ray loved helping his friends, neighbors and family in any way he could. He was happiest when he was doing something for someone else.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Nordella. He is survived by his children: Tom (Lori) Sievers of Boise, ID, Jerrie (John) McFadyen of Brookside, CO and Bill (Tina) Sievers of S. Mountain, PA. He is also survived by his sisters, Edna Nimmons and Betty Stockstrom and 11 grandchildren: Kathy Ortiz, Linda Bentley, Art Sievers, Lynnaya Luttrell, Sam McFadyen, Casey Lutrell, Jeff Sievers, Ben McFadyen, Claire McFadyen-Beard, Kenna Bargerstock and Billy Sievers and numerous great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held 1:30 pm Monday, March 28th at Cloverdale Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children (http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/donate).
