Steven Leroy Obituary

Steven Harry Leroy
1949 - 2014
Steve Leroy, aged almost 65, was called to Heaven this month to lead a vital public relations campaign challenging humankind to duly contemplate the meaning of life. While on a cross country motorhome trip with his Brother Jeff and Sister-in-Law Kathy, on October 1, 2014, he died of long term congestive heart failure at a Las Vegas hospital. Born and raised in Lewiston, he is reunited with his parents, Harold and Fay Leroy, and leaves behind brothers and sisters in law Jeff and Kathy Leroy of Palm Beach, Florida and Dave and Nancy Leroy of Boise, numerous nieces and nephews of Florida, Texas and North Dakota and their children, his domestic and policy advocate partner Pamela Dowd and his faithful physician Dr. Graham Wetherley. After graduation from Lewiston High School and the University of Idaho, Steve began a career of varied and significant attainments including Crisis Communications Director for the McDonalds Corporation, Public Information Officer for the U.S. Department of Energy - Hanford Site and Lead for the White House Office of Presidential Advance on numerous international missions and domestic appearances and campaign stops for Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. He consulted upon and was active in every U.S. presidential election since 1972 and was active in most Idaho gubernatorial races from 1970 onward, mostly as a stalwart Democrat, but occasionally assisting Republicans as he did in 2012, organizing Ada County's largest G.O.P. presidential cacus held anywhere in the United States. His advice was sought and followed by a host of individuals and candidates for legislative, statewide and judicial office in many states over four decades. The last two years of his life he was the Political Consultant and Public Relations Consultant for Brenna's Hope Foundation something he was passionate about. He was a complex man of simple lifestyle and focused interests, who won a legion of friends and acquaintances. As affirmed by St. Peter at the Gate, Steve always had "just the right words." Arrangements are pending.
