Wayne Edward DeWalt

Wayne Edward DeWalt 1919 - 2011 Wayne E. DeWalt was surrounded by his loved ones during his last few days; he passed comfortably at his home in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho on June 8, 2011. Graveside services will be held at the Pioneer Cemetery in Horseshoe Bend at 2:00pm Saturday June 11, 2011. Services are under the direction of Potter Funeral Chapel Emmett. Wayne was born in Boise on May 27, 1919 to Wayne and Maurine DeWalt. Wayne has lived in Horseshoe Bend his whole life; he joined into the 44th infantry division in the U.S. Army in 1940, and also fought in World War II. During this period of his life he received several metals of honor, including the Oak Leaf Cluster to the Bronze Star. After military life he worked in construction on numerous projects. Worked on Anderson, Lucky Peak, Brownlee, Oxbow, and Hells Canyon damns, also was a Teamster member. Wayne was very dedicated to the City of Horseshoe Bend from 1971-1988 as a City Works employee. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Rochelle DeWalt of 53 years, which was the best wife he ever had (only wife he ever had). His children Wayne and Kim DeWalt of Horseshoe Bend, Teresa Dooms of Cascade, Laurie and Steve Asher of Horseshoe Bend, and grandchildren Lisa and Dave, Dustin and Cindy Dooms of Meridian, Kelly and Alyssa Dooms of Emmett, Kristy DeWalt of Nampa, Levi DeWalt of Horseshoe Bend, Camillia Asher of Horseshoe Bend, Lloyd Asher of Horseshoe Bend, and great grand kids, Brady, Dillon, Dawson, Adiston. Wayne E. DeWalt is preceded in death by his parents, and son-in-law Jeff Dooms. The family would like to thank the V.A. Hospital, St. Lukes Hospital and St. Lukes Hospice for all of their wonderful care and support. We would also like to thank all of the family and friends that were very supportive in this very difficult time.
