Michael Sessions Obituary

In Loving Memory of Michael Scott Sessions,

Michael Scott Sessions was born on April 19th, 1946, in Lovell, Wyoming, to Ethel and Thurman Sessions. He peacefully departed this world on December 21st, 2023, with his family at his side. He was 77 years old.

Mike met his wife of 58-years, Judy Allred, in high school in Lovell, Wyoming and they were married on April 23rd, 1965. Together, they raised four children, creating a strong family bond and leaving a legacy of love and friendship. An avid outdoorsman, Mike found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His passion for hunting, camping, and fishing was more than a pastime, it was a reflection of his love for the outdoors. Many a lesson was taught to his children in the wilderness setting. His family will look back fondly on the times they spent with him on the "mountain".

As a young man, Mike supported his family in the Lovell area working primarily for Ray Minchow at Minchow's Mobile and supplementing his income working campaign at the sugar factory.

Mike's mining career began in 1973 with the American Colloid Company in Lovell, Wyoming. This path took him to Belle Fourche, South Dakota in 1974. He remained in the bentonite industry with Federal Bentonite until 1980. Mike then settled in Colstrip, Montana, joining Long Construction at the Rosebud Number 6 coal mine as a safety officer. Over the years, he advanced through various supervisory positions. He made many friends in the mining community and thoroughly enjoyed the projects and relationships he was able to build over the years. In 2008, after a fulfilling career, Mike retired from Western Energy Company, concluding his notable tenure at the Rosebud mine.

Mike held deep spiritual beliefs and was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many different capacities.

Additionally, he served the community as a volunteer fire fighter, Boy Scout leader and youth sports coach.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mike's greatest legacy lies in the love and memories he shared with his family and friends. His determination, wisdom, and work ethic touched the lives of many and will continue to inspire those who knew him. Mike will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Ethel Sessions, his sister Laverne Thatch, and his brother, Richard Sessions. He is survived by his wife Judy, his children Wes (Jody) Sessions, Sheila (Ernest) Lovato, Duane (Tiffany) Sessions, Scott (Shawna) Sessions and his brothers Allen and Stanley Sessions. His role as a grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren was filled with joy and pride.

A memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will be held on December 30, 2023, at 10:00 am in the west chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints located at: 50 West Main Street, Lovell Wyoming.

Mike was always friendly and would ask how things were going. I sure miss seeing him in church. He and Judy had some nice kids.
