Daniel Martinez Obituary
May 23, 1987 - May 19, 2021
Daniel Blake "Blakey" Martinez, 33, of Kannapolis and Holden Beach, passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at home.
He was born May 23, 1987, in Cabarrus County, the youngest son of Douglas and Debbie. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Sam (Angie) and Dustin all of Kannapolis; niece and nephew, Andrew and Addi; and aunts, uncles and numerous cousins, all of whom he loved.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Otto and Janie Christy and Judy Martinez.
He graduated from South Rowan High School in 2006 and was very good at fixing anything. He worked as an auto mechanic; a marine repairman on Lake Norman, fixing boats and jet skis (favorite part was getting to test drive the jet skis); and for many years, as a plumber.
Blake enjoyed going to go-kart and drag races, playing cornhole, horseshoes, volleyball, putt-putt, and anything else outside. His greatest joy was fishing, anytime, anywhere and any weather with his brother, Sam. They fished in local freshwater lakes, but his favorite place was fishing off the piers and in the surf of North and South Carolina beaches, where he had many citations and pier records.
A celebration of life services will be held Saturday, May 29, at Living Word Church, 2106 West C St., Kannapolis, NC 28081, at 7 p.m., with Preacher Lee Boone presiding.
Blake will be missed by all his many friends and will be forever loved in the hearts of his family.
