Joseph Fowler KANNAPOLIS Joseph Jacob Fowler, 85, of Kannapolis, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at his home. He was born April 5, 1927, in Davidson County, the son of the late Jake and Lucy Long Fowler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Harrington Fowler April 28, 2012. He was a 1944 graduate of Thomasville High School and a 1959 graduate of Catawba College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and in the Korean War, where he was a Staff Sergeant with the 151st Division. He retired from Spectrum Consolidated Sales, High Point after 33 years. He was a lifelong golfer and also played semi-pro baseball with the Class C Hi-Toms team in his earlier years. He was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Carolina Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Mike Hubbard. He is survived by a son, Randall Fowler, of Kannapolis; a daughter, Donna Fowler Walton and husband, Rick, of High Point; three grandchildren, Katharine Grace Fowler, of Charlotte, Kristopher Jacob Walton, and Melissa Brooke Walton, of High Point; a sister, Mozelle Tolson, of Thomasville; and a brother, Clyde Fowler and wife, Verna, of Thomasville; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
