Ansel Bradberry

Comas Ansel Bradberry, 88, of Abbeville, husband of Elizabeth Pressley Bradberry, died peacefully, Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by many of his loving family. He was born in Abbeville County to the late Oscar Tomb and Bessie Horton Bradberry and is the last survivor of 11 siblings.

A graduate of Sharon School, Class of 1953, Ansel served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he attended Clemson University, graduating in the Class of 1961, where he earned a degree in Chemistry. Ansel was employed in pharmaceuticals in Wilson, NC, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Following retirement, Ansel and his wife relocated to Abbeville where he spent many happy years fishing, farming, and tending his grape orchard. He was a devoted follower of Christ and an active member of South Side Baptist Church in Abbeville.

Ansel is survived by his wife of 68 years; two sons Joel Bradberry (Kim) and Christopher Bradberry (Kristine); six grandchildren, Adrian Ivey (Gaston), Jessica Ferguson (Cody), Caleb Bradberry (Emily), Kevin Bradberry (Sung), Sarah Bradberry, and Rachel Bradberry; seven great-grandchildren Joshua, Logan, and Sophia Ivey, Bryson and Levi Ferguson, and Nolan and Tyler Bradberry.

The family will receive friends 6:00PM - 8:00PM, Friday, June 14, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 4:00PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024, in the Harris Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Joel Bradberry officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Sharon United Methodist Church cemetery.
