Betty Jean Thigpen Timmerman, 87, resident of Lakeshore Drive, wife of Ellis Frank Timmerman, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at her home.
Born October 10, 1936, in Stapleton, GA, she was a daughter of the late Fred Lamar and Lillian Landrum Thigpen. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and was employed with Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant. Betty was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed camping, being outdoors, and living on the lake.
She attended Rice Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 67 years are four children, Frankie Lynn Martin, Karen T. Jordan (John), Kim Marie Timmerman (Billy), and Ellis Frank Timmerman, Jr. (Maria); five grandchildren, Christy Jordan-Williams (Shawn), Jennifer Martin, Sammy Brooks, Jay Jordan (Anna Grace), and Gage Timmerman (Abby); eleven great-grandchildren, Savannah Brooks (Zach), Chassity Brooks (Victor), Sethe Williams (Jaden), Joshua Brooks, Isabella Williams, Ada Grace Williams, John Ellison Williams, Jack Jordan, Carlisle Jordan, Eliza Timmerman, and Ellis Timmerman; and a great-great-grandchild, Evelyn Ornelas.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Lamar Thigpen; three sisters, Earlene Godown, Mary Pileggi, and Ann Burrum; and a granddaughter, Carrie Jean Brooks.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Hodges and Rev. Shawn Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Robert Timmerman, Jay Jordan, Gage Timmerman, Sethe Williams, John Ellison Williams, Chad Timmerman, Sammy Brooks, and Joshua Brooks.
The family is at the home on Lakeshore Drive and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30-3:00 Thursday afternoon.
