Daniel Schroeder Obituary

Daniel E. Schroeder

Indianapolis - Our precious son, Daniel E. Schroeder, 30 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on December 31, 2020. He attended grade school at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic School. He attended high school at Bishop Chatard High School. He was a graduate of Indiana University at the IUPUI campus. He is survived by his parents James and Teresa (Hall) Schroeder, his brother Ben Schroeder (Catie), his grandfather Karl Schroeder, his uncle Dave Schroeder (Linda), his aunt Lori Schroeder (Tom), and many cousins. His grandparents Noble and Blanche Hall, grandmother Linda Schroeder, and uncle Noble Hall Jr. preceded him in death.

Daniel was co-captain of his varsity tennis team at Bishop Chatard and was a life-long tennis player. He was a certified lifeguard and worked at a community pool during the summer. He was a sports fan who also loved movies, books and comedy.

As a young child, Daniel truly lived in the moment. He experienced all that life had to offer with great intensity. Although he would have been a poor mechanical engineer, he had an inherent understanding of what made people tick. He won a spelling bee or two with his amazing memory. He showed incredible people skills at an early age and was happiest when he could be with others. He had the gift of gab and was a natural at sales as an adult.

The adult Daniel was a person of great loyalty and quick wit. Although he could be a little unorganized, he always had an upbeat view of life. One thing you noticed when spending time with Daniel was that his phone never stopped ringing. Calls and texts streamed in constantly. He always had a broad smile on his face as he texted someone back or spoke to them on the phone. If he changed jobs, he collected another handful of friends. He loved talking to old schoolmates, neighbors, or to be honest, everyone he encountered.

At his core, Daniel was a gentle soul and was very soft-hearted. Daniel loved life and was always busy making plans for the future. He had just ordered a passport and was planning on doing some traveling once the pandemic was under control. He looked forward to new experiences. He enjoyed going to the art cinema to catch a film or perusing the wares at the half price bookstore.

We will miss him terribly. Although this is not the timing any of us would have chosen for his death, Daniel openly discussed his Christian faith with us, so we know we will join him in heaven someday. We love and appreciate every one of you who were in Daniel's life. This world will be a little more organized, but a lot less friendly without Daniel. He certainly would have wanted us all to love and support each other.

Due to the pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Simon Catholic Church. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East.
