Isaac M. "Ike" Redmond Sr.
Indianapolis, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014. He was born in Indianapolis on May 25, 1932 to Samuel and Gertrude Redmond. Mr. Redmond served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a police officer with the Indianapolis Police Department for 30 years, before retiring in 1987. After retiring from IPD he worked for the Marion County Sheriff's Department for 12 years. He was a member of FOP Lodge 86, 40 & 8, American Legion and the VFW. he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Tallent Redmond and his son, Isaac Redmond Jr. and is survived by his sons, David M. (Melanie) and Joseph R. (Cindy) Redmond; sisters, Agnes Wittmer and Zelda Snyder; grandchildren, Brock (Dana), David Jr. (Kendra), Jacob (Mara), Joshua, Heather, Matthew, Maggie; and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Daniel F. O' Riley Funeral Home , where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Ike's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors of Franciscan St. Francis Hospital for their compassion and care during his hospitalization. Sorry to hear about the passing of Ike. He was my Sgt for many years at IPD. He was great to work for. He was a great person to know and we had some great times together. I know he will be missed.

Although I never got to meet Mr. Redmond, as a close friend of Zelda's I am praying for the family. If anything like his sister Zelda, he was an amazing man. God Bless
