Good Morning Ms. McNelis;
Just read of John's passing in the Butler Magazine. John and I were Fraternity Brothers at Lambda Chi and co-workers at The Bottle Shoppe our Jr. & Senior years...John was my Best Man at my wedding. He was always a great friend and one of whom I have many found memories...we even got robbed together one night at The Shoppe.
My email is [email protected] and if you can provide any details of John's passing it would be appreciated by me. I would like to be sure he is remembered by Lambda Chi at Butler also. While we only communicated by Christmas card, I am sure he remembered the great times we shared.
We have definitely lost one of the "Good Guys"

The only person who knew the Olinger warehouse like the back of his hand; no computers and he knew the complete inventory, which location and shelf it was on; a gem of a gut. You will be surely missed; see you up there.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of John , he will be greatly missed. May you keep the fond memories you have of him always in your heart. James 4:8 invites us to "draw close to God and he will draw close to you", especially during this sorrowful time.

Rita and Family:
I am saddened to know that John has died. Your big and wonderful family not only formed him but comforted and supported him. There is nothing more important than to know that you have felt the love of your family. That love will continue as you experience the care John will continue to send your way through your memories and your continued devotion to each other. However, my heart cries with you.

Very sad to hear of John's passing. At Latin School, since we often sat alphabetically, John and I frequently had fun at each others expense. I always considered him a good friend. My condolences to all his family.

John, you were a man that lived live to the fullest; enjoyed the finer things, including a passion for Michelob and BBQ Chips. You had a heart that was as big and hearty as your laughter, and oh how I loved to hear you laugh. There were many times when you would have Rosie and me laughing until we cried. I have so many wonderful memories; you, my dear friend will have a place in my heart for ever. I will miss you so very much. Much love, hugs and kisses. Cheri.

Dear Rosie, Helen, Rita and all--
May your wonderful memories be helpful at this most difficult time.I thought the wording in the obituary that said "His generosity, work ethic, sense of humor and faith knew no bounds" was a very appropriate summary of his life.

Johnny was my best friend ever since high school. For at least the last ten years I have endeavored to talk to John at least once per month (sometimes it was with the wonderful Rosie as translator) and visit whenever I was in Indy. My wife and I had the good fortune to visit and have lunch with Johnny this summer. Never did I hear a complaining word from John about his illness or the way his life had changed. (Well, he did mention once that he would rather be playing golf with me in Florida!) Rather there was always the interest in me and my family. He was a wonderful man and good friend and I will miss him. My prayers and thoughts will always be with Rosie and the family.
