She was one of my mother's (Patricia "Padula" Bowker) best friends. They met through the phone company when my mom worked with her in Merchantville. She came to our house for every family event until the mid-seventies, when she and my mother stopped calling and inviting. It was just one of those things that happen with people. We called her "Aunt" Jean. She was very kind to all of us kids.

So sorry to hear of Jeans passing. Alice knew her from the phone company many years ago.
With our sympathy to her family.

It is with great sadness that I saw the notice of Jean's passing. I also rose through the ranks of New Jersey Bell Telephone Company from customer service representative to business office supervisor in the Haddon Heights and Camden business offices. When I started working in Haddon Heights as a service rep, Jean was there teaching a class of new service reps, and I found her to be one of the most vibrant, kind, and unforgettable people I had ever met. During the time that we were both there I had experienced a time of surgery and hospitalization. She sent me a note that was so encouraging: telling me to get well quickly and "keep my eyes bright and faith alive." I never forgot those words or the wonderful woman who sent them to me. I know she will be greatly missed and I feel fortunate to have known her.
