I served with John on the USS SELLERS DDG11 in the early 1960's.

I am saddened to learn of his death and remember him as a fine young man. Possibly God took him away to be part of a crew serving in a much nicer place. Best wishes & regrets from one of his old shipmates to his family & friends.

Mrs. Martinelli,

It always saddens me to learn of the death of a Sellers ship mate. My husband, Irvin (Red) Conaway served on the Sellers in the mid 60's. I believe he got out of the Navy in 1967 as I had just met him when he returned home to Savannah, Georgia.

Just wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know you have a tremendous adjustment to make and with the help of God and your family, you will make it through this trying time.

My husband died in May, 2001 after a long battle with kidney disease. There is never a day that I don't think about him but the 33 years we spent together were definitely the best years of my life.

Prayers and regards to your and your family.
