JUDITH KATHLEEN "KATHIE" GREENACRE GOODMAN

1942 - 2022

GREENACRE GOODMAN JUDITH KATHLEEN "KATHIE" Died peacefully at her home on Friday, March 25, 2022, at the age of 79. Her final moments were spent exchanging words of affection with her devoted caregiver of almost 8 years, Pauline Bailey. Born on November 1, 1942, in New York City, Kathie was the daughter of Carl E. Fisher and Betty Ann Jenks, raised among actors and directors on Broadway. After attending The Dalton School, she attended Radcliffe/Harvard University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1964 and then graduating M.D. Cum Laude from Harvard Medical School in 1968. Kathie married Martyn Greenacre in 1966 and moved with him to London, England in 1968, where she completed her postgraduate training and earned her PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of London. She worked at St. Albans Hospital and was a member of the Royal College of Physicians. After her marriage ended, Kathie worked as a pulmonary disease physician in Philadelphia and in 1994 married Dr. David B.P. Goodman, a pathologist at the University of Pennsylvania, who died in 2003. Kathie is survived by stepsons Alex and Derek Goodman, numerous devoted cousins, her former husband, and their respective family members. Kathie was a member of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia and a Community Member of the Institutional Review Board for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She served on several medical boards and committees and held several faculty positions in medical schools at Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania. She was also recognized for her editorial positions and numerous research publications involving pulmonology and pharmacology. Her final position before retiring in 2002, was working as a staff physician for Student Healt Services at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In her retirement, Kathie volunteered in literacy, as a reading tutor for adults, and was a member of The Cosmopolitan Club of Philadelphia. She was a supporter of the arts, enjoyed travel, her book club and fine dining. She particularly enjoyed her time on Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada, with friends and cousins. She is most remembered for her remarkably positive attitude amid life's challenges, her generosity and her devotion to family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on June 4, 2022, 11:30 A.M., at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 313 Pine St., Philadelphia, PA 19106.
