Beloved Martin K. Brown has been in my life for more than 60 yrs. He ,Mrs.Brown, and my Mom, all taught together at Gillespie Jr High in the 50's, and then as a student at City Center School from 1st-6th grades, he was my an Amazing Principal, and some of my family members attended Greenfield as well, where he led the school til his retirement after many yrs.
I caught up with Mr.and Mrs Brown in the 90's quite unexpectedly when I worked for the Marriott, and Mr.Brown called to say he had lost his coat.
Amazingly, but not surprised, he recognized my voice, and we had a great chat.
I began a Facebook page for "City Center School in the 60's", and it was an honor to have Mr.Brown as a member who contributed often, and remembered names of all of his former students like it was yesterday. Our lives have been indelibly touched by having Martin Brown in them.May he Rest in Eternal Peace and Power. We LOVE & CHERISH your Memory Always. Thank you for Everything Sir.

Martin was a key player in our WinterShelter, a winter gathering space for men who are experiencing homelessness. It was always a delight to see him when I brought a meal to feed the men. I am so glad that he has asked for donations to WinterShelter in his memory. That is so like him.

Mr. Brown's notice came as quite a surprise to me. He and his wife, Rita, were both my teachers eons ago; 1953 or 1954, at Gillespie Jr. High. I remember trying to coax him to sing since he looked so much like Tennessee Ernie Ford (he didn't appreciate my efforts) and sweet, patient, Mrs. Brown, who would occasionally bring her little daughter, Karen, to visit the classroom. Karen was about 2 or 3, barely tall enough to print her name on the blackboard. I'm 82 now but remember how excellent this husband and wife team worked together. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Brown, for the fond memories. As you can see, I will always remember both of you.

We send our heartfelt condolences to the family of someone we called family. Myself and my siblings attended Albert M. Greenfield Elementary school, and because of Mr. Brown we were all able to attend together. He loved my family and you knew you were in good hands with him as the principal. He stayed in touch via social media for as long as he could. A year ago he stated to write him because he would not be on any longer. I am so sorry I never did. I love you Mr. Brown. Rest in the arms of our heavenly father.

Mr. Brown was a wonderful man who immensely impacted my life in every positive way during my 7 years at City Center. He opened my eyes to understanding others and gave me a prime example early in my life of what class is and can be. My sympathy to his family. My thanks to the Gods for having had him in my life. May he Rest In Peace.

What a wonderful man with a legacy as an educator to all of us who knew him at City Center School. He was always a friendly face and had a kind word for all of the kids. A wonderful life well spent and much appreciated. Condolences to Mr. Brown's family and friends.
