David Butcher Obituary

David, a God loving man, went to be with the Lord December 4, 2007. He was home, surrounded by family and friends. David was a man that loved life. He was a hunter; he loved to shoot guns and bows. When he was younger, he loved dune buggys, and dirt bikes, but most of all, he loved his family and friends. David worked hard, played hard and loved deeply. Born January 13, 1948 in Oklahoma City, OK, he was a Pomona resident for 50 years. He worked as a soil tester and mechanic, most recently employed by RMA Group. David was a member of the Oranco Bowman Archery Club and affiliated with the Ontario Church of God. As a special service to his community, David played Santa Claus for many families for more than 20 years. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth (Lit); son, David Ray; daughter, Angie; and grandchildren, Joel, Jeremiah, James and Jamielyn Rodriguez; brother, Roy Levon Butcher; two sisters , Leveta Combee and Rachael Erixson; many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raynond and Sylvia Butcher. David's motto in life was "his family were his friends and his friends were his family." And he leaves many to cherish his memory. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 9, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Todd Memorial Chapel, 325 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont. Service will be held Monday at 11:30 at Todd Memorial Chapel, Claremont. Burial will immediately follow at Desert Lawn M emorial Park, Calimesa.

So long David. Our families certainly had tons of fun over these last many years. Finally, someone to sit under that apple tree with my dad, swapping stories ... that is, when he's not watching you hunt. And no more tag fees!! Watch for us ... we'll be along ...
