ANNA TERRAZAS Obituary
Anna M. Terrazas, 90, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 due to heart failure. Anna was born and raised in Calexico and became a resident of El Centro for the past 46 years. She married Albert Terrazas in 1953 and was married for 62 years until he predeceased her in 2016. Anna worked for the Calexico Chronicle as a reporter covering local society stories for 21 years. She then worked for the Imperial Valley Press as the Society Editor of the Calexico bureau and wrote a column called "Border Brevities". She retired after 22 years at the IV Press in 1992. Anna was preceded in death by her parents Reyes and Dolores Mercado; twin sister Maggie Goff; daughters Clarissa (Rissy) Marrs; an infant child, Marissa Terrazas; siblings Joe and Frank Mercado and Lupita Velasquez. She is survived by her sibling Loli Torres; daughters Terry (Ron) Asamen and Lisa (Dave) Schmidt; grandchildren Edward, Andrea and Alexis Asamen, David and Steven Fowler, Shelby Schmidt, Christopher Marrs, Vanessa (Tony) Rhea and Emily (Ed) Gonsalez. Anna had 12 great-grandchildren. Interment will be private due to Covid restrictions and a gathering for friends and family will be held at a later date. Terri, Lisa, Loli and all of Anna's wonderful family--our heartfelt condolences. Anna was a wonderful woman. I remember our son, Matt, coming home from having lunch at her house and asking me to get her recipe for chili beans. He said they were the best he had ever eaten. Golly, we will miss her, as I am sure all her friends will.
May she rest in peace.

Such a beautiful, gracious and loving lady! My father Dick Fitch couldnt have loved her and Al anymore than he did, he adored them both! Anna lived her life well, and it makes my heart happy thinking of the three of them in heaven, together again!

Anna was one of the nicest, sweetest ladies I've ever met. Anna and her husband, Al, were dear friends of mine when I lived in the Imperial Valley and worked at the Imperial Valley Press. She was an amazing cook, too! I loved her Mexican food, hearing her stories and her laugh. She paved the way for me with sources when I was starting my career in journalism. She introduced me to some of my best contacts in Mexicali and helped guide me behind the scenes as I was finding my way in Mexico. She treated me like a son and I will always love her for that.

Dear Loli, Chris, and Terrazas / Mercado Families. I am so sorry for your your loss. I was fortunate to meet Mrs Terrazas 1982 at the IV Press Branch Office in the De Anza Hotel. I always admired her for her for her business etiquette, but mostly her kindness, the love and respect she gave to everyone, including me.
May God give all of Mrs Terrazas family a peace of mind knowing she is now surrounded by her love ones in heaven.
