ARCADIO CABANILLA Obituary

Arcadio Cadge was born in El Centro and grew up in Niland, California, along with his four brothers, Jerome, Richard, Lawrence, and Danny. Arcadio attended Grace Smith Elementary School and graduated from Calipatria High School in 1963.
Arcadio was a permanent resident at a VA facility in Kingsburg, California, for senior citizens, and he passed away at Kaweah Hospital in Visalia on April 24, 2022.
Arcadio was drafted into the U.S. Army soon after graduating, and his first duty station was in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he married Derla Wallace, and divorced, they had no children. He used his VA benefits to attend the University of California in Berkeley, California. While at U.C. Berkeley, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in architecture. Afterwards, he married and divorced Sydney, and they had a daughter, Stephanie. Thereafter, he married and divorced Inge, and they had a son, Christian. During this time, he worked in a local architects office in Visalia, became a licensed-contractor, and holding a notary public license. Later, he moved to Palm Desert, where he married and divorced Maria and Anna. Other highlights in his life included substitute teaching in the Desert Sands Unified School District teaching at middle schools and high schools while living in Palm Desert.
Arcadio was preceded in death by his parents, Arcadio and Connie Cabanilla; son, Christian and former wives, Derla and Sydney. He is survived by his former wives, Inge, Maria, Anna, and daughter, Stephanie; husband, Christian; and two granddaughters, Lillyanna, and Lauren, who currently live in Visalia.
The Rosary and Mass is scheduled to be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, 10 AM, at Sacred Heart Church, Brawley, California. Afterwards, the internment of ashes of both brothers, Jerome and Arcadio, are to be placed within their parents graves at Riverview Cemetery, Brawley, along with Military Honors. A Celebration of Life will be held after the burial service at Hidalgo Hall in Brawley.

I spent many years working with Arcadio at Wally's Desert Turtle in Rancho Mirage where we were both Captains/waitor/waitress. He was always so happy and fun to be around. We would often go to Tanpopos for sushi after work with another great friend of his, Fausto.
We would often have long talks about everything under the sun. He was very knowledgeable and I appreciated his mind but also his kind heart. Although it's been years since we've been in touch, I will miss his kind spirit, insightful knowledge and life advice.
Rest easy, my friend.
