CARMEN CAJIGAS Obituary

On December 26, 2016 our beloved Carmen was welcomed into the Gates of Heaven, after enjoying with her family and friends the most memorable Christmas day. Carmen was born the baby of the family to Eulogia and Pedro Ruiz on November 6, 1944 in Brawley, CA. At the tender age of 16 she met the love of her life Filomeno Cajigas Jr. and married him on July 19, 1962 in El Centro, CA. She had three beautiful children; Albert, Valerie and Erica. We will always remember her joyous, friendly and loving character. She loved being surrounded by those she loved and would never pass up a chance to sing Karoeke to her favorite Mexican Songs or dance with her husband or anyone willing. She will remain in our hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her son, Albert; parents, Pedro and Eulogia; brothers, Catarino and Fidencio Ruiz; sisters, Natividad Duran and Martina Gonzales. She is survived by her husband, Filomeno Cjigas of Brawley; daughters, Valerie (Greg) Kastner of Brawley and Erica (Robert) Rodriguez of Brawley; daughter-in-law, Denise Cajigas; sister, Jessie Olivas of Brawley; 9 grandchildren, Albert, Michael, Nikki, Michelle, Kevin, Eric, Daniel, Jacob and Aaron; and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. at with rosary at 7 p.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley, CA. Burial will be held privately.

Tio Jr, Valerie and Erica, I think that the loss of a mother or wife is by far the saddest event of anyone's lifetime. There is just no other loss that measures up to this one. But knowing my tia as we do, she wouldn't want you sitting around grieving but rather celebrating the wonderful life she led.I will always remember the beautiful smile that she always displayed. I always admired her tireless energy, nothing ever slowed her down. Our deepest condolences to you all. Love you.

My heart goes out to my uncle Filomeno, cousins Valerie and Erica. Thinking of you all during this difficult time. May you find peace and comfort knowing that she has now joined her only son Albert, mother, father, brothers, sisters, and many other loved ones, including my mother Linda. Loved my aunt Carmen so much, and will sadly miss her. My Brawley visits will never be the same. Going to miss her voice, smiles, contagious laughs, and phone conversations. She was a beautiful, strong, funny, and hardworking woman, who loved her family very much. Her grandchildren kept her very happy, and were the highlight of her life. She was loved by many, and was everybody's Tia Carmen! Her home was always warm and welcoming. I will cherish the wonderful memories that I have of her. She was special, and I will keep her in my heart forever!..."I love you aunt Carmen"...May you Rest In Peace...Until we meet again!
