I was related to Karl via. his wife Francis, who was my aunt. I enjoyed visiting the Jacobs in the 40`s and 50`s. I was always impressed with Karl`s intense interest in whatever topic intrigued him at the time. Those interests ranged from fly fishing (he had a huge collection of fishing gear) to gliders, to Volkswagon autos, to photography, etc., etc. I remember him teaching me how to throw a baseball in Fowler. I remember being amazed that the 4 boys would finish off one gallon of milk at each meal. Once, when we were quite young, his son John and I planned to sleep in a pup tent in the back yard of my house. After much preparation, however, we realized we were afraid of the dark and Karl had to come and rescue John. The last time I saw Karl, and Karen he gave me a tour of his home, spoke about world events, and his youth in southern Indiana. He was 98 then and joked about making it to 100. I can clearly hear the sound of his voice although I have not seen him for 4 years.

My mother worked for the Jacob's when I was a very small girl. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Karl and Frances will always be remembered to me as kind people.

Karen,Mike,Kent and extended family: I went to work for Karl in 1954 and worked until 1973, with a few interruptions when Tim, Tammy and D.J. were born. Frances cared for Steve while I worked until Tim was born. Both Karl and Frances were so good to me and our family. We stayed in touch by telephone until Karl's hearing deteriorated to the point he was unable to hear. (I have to admit this is the first time I have used his first name in referring to him. Out of respect to him I always called him Mr. Jacobs although he asked me many times to call him Karl.) We all have good memories of those times. Karl and Frances were great individuals.
