Ralph Tillotson Obituary

Ralph L. Tillotson

89, Attica, and presently of the Williamsport Health & Rehabilitation Center,  passed away at the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.

Ralph was born in Warren County, Indiana on March 2, 1927. He was the son of the late Jesse Warren and Alma Myrtle (Clem) Tillotson. Ralph was raised in Warren County and later moved to Clinton. He then lived near Covington and attended Covington High School. For the past 68 years, Ralph has resided in Shawnee Township, south of Attica.

Ralph entered the service and served in the U.S. Navy and the close of WW II. He served in the Philippines. 

Following his service, Ralph worked as a carpenter with Harley Bell and later in construction with Harrison Steel Castings Company. Following his retirement he became a van driver for Community Action in Covington for 13 years.

Ralph was a gifted carpenter and had built three homes for his family. He also helped other friends in building or finishing their homes. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and enjoyed his time with the grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 52 of Attica. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club.

On July 13, 1947, Ralph married Neva Eileen Trott in the Attica First United Methodist Church. 

He leaves behind his wife, Eileen of nearly 70 years; three daughters, Sherry (Tom) Ward, West Lafayette; Tammy Martin, Kingman and LeeAnn (Pete) Snyder, Attica; a sister, Maxine Paris, Lebanon, IN; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren; his pet dog, Ebony. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph L. Tillotson, II; a grandson, Todd Martin; two brothers, Charles and Jesse Tillotson; three sisters, Hazel Selsor, Grace Parson and Lometa Tuggle.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica on Sunday, Feb. 19th from 2:00 -5:00 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 20th, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Hunter officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Community Foundation c/o Ralph L. Tillotson, II Scholarship Fund.
