John Colyer Obituary

John R. Colyer, age 54, of Bakers Summit, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, July 12, while working outside his home.
He was born April 1, 1962 in Altoona, the son of D'Anna (Bullers) Spindler and husband Todd of Brookville, ad the late John R. Colyer. John grew up in Brookville on a farm on Hunters Grove road and he then married Brenda E. Summers on March 12, 1985 in Roaring Spring.
He was currently employed at New Enterprise Rural Electric, where he started working August 13, 1993, and previously had been employed at Blattenberger Electric, Martinsburg.
He enjoyed hunting, going for buggy rides with his dog, Cooper; spending time with his family and friends at the cabin in Potter County; growing crops, raising animals and restoring machinery.
He is survived by his mother and step-father; his wife, Brenda; three children: TylaAnn D. Colyer and husband Travis Renny of Woodbury; Jesse R. Colyer and fiancee Ashley Boob of Martinsburg; and Virginia S. Colyer and fiancé Joe Thomas of Bakers Summit; seven grandchildren: Destiny, Chasity, Mackenzie, TJ, Nathan, John and Hailey; a sister, Dawn Shields and husband Terry of Falls Creek; and a brother, Todd Taylor and fiancee Lori Kite of Brookville.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Douglas Colyer.
Friends were received in St. John's Reformed Church in Loysburg, where a funeral service was held Saturday by the Rev. David Meckley.
