Bill Decker Obituary
Bill Ardean Decker, 84 of Sterling Colorado passed away on Wednesday, July 7th, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17th at the Faith United Methodist Church with Pastor Jodie Harless officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Bill was born March 28th,1937 in Burr Oak, Kansas to Derald and Faye (Moon) Decker. He was raised on a farm in the Burr Oak Kansas community. He graduated from Burr Oak High School in Kansas. Bill married Marilyn Kay Shelbourne on October 20th, 1963, in Gothenburg Nebraska and the couple moved to Sterling. Bill started in the Cattle Industry originally when he moved to Colorado then transitioned into driving trucks with his own business Decker Trucking. Bill did drive locally but often drove to the West Coast once a week. Bill was known for his CB Handle " Double Decker " as he owned a Rig that had doubles for trailers when he was hauling grain. Bill put lots of miles on the road and made many friends who were truckers as well. Bill was an avid boating enthusiast enjoying waterskiing, jet skiing, motorcycle riding and traveling around in his RV. When he retired from over the road truck- driving he worked locally for a few farmers driving and helping them during harvest time. He also enjoyed buying old farm tractors and fixing them up for resale. His Biggest enjoyment was being part of the Flat Landers Car Club and going out of town to car shows with his 1955 Crown Victoria. He was preceded by his parents Derald Decker and Faye Decker, wife Marilyn Decker and his son Brett Decker. Bill is survived by his son Bryan Decker of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Kyle, Tyler and Ashleigh Decker all of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters Joan White of Salina, Kansas and Cheryl Rose of Tacoma, Washington, IA; in laws Doug and Irene Kniesteadt of Franklin, Nebraska, Bobby and Sandy Kniesteadt of Denver, Colorado and Kim Brown of Council Bluffs, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.
