Emanuel Schneider Obituary
Emanual was born in Rockville on Jan. 11, 1933, son of the late Edward and Louise (Trueb) Schneider. Before retiring in 1993, he was employed by DeCarli's Express and Hartford Despatch. Sonny was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Ellington and served as a long-term trustee for the Ellington Cemetery Association.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, Verona, he leaves his six children, Sandra (Joseph) Koch, Heidi (John) Cerrigione, both of Ellington, Leonard (Deborah) Schneider of Vernon, Nancy (Kenneth) Willis, Mary-Ann (Dale) Gerber, both of Ellington, and Trudi (Chris) Kozak of Vernon. He also leaves 17 grandchildren, Victoria Koch, Levi and Jared Schneider, Kayla (Sean) Mitchell, Chris (Kristin), Mike (Tricia), Crystal, Eric (Coreen) and Emily Willis; Lydia, Rebekah, Jacob, Hannah, and Samuel Gerber, Kevin, Steven, and Ryan Kozak; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hannah Schneider, Alma (Joseph) Skipper, Marie (Bernard) Garrow, all of Vernon; a brother-in-law, Edwin (Beverly) Gerber, of Ellington; and numerous nieces and nephews. Awaiting him in heaven is his great-grandson, Obadiah Willis.
Sonny loved working with his hands and serving others; his unselfish deeds of kindness and generosity will be missed. Music was an important part of his life whether it was in church singing hymns or with his family and friends singing the Swiss tunes that he enjoyed from his youth. We will all miss his distinctive high tenor. Sonny's strong faith displayed his love for God, his church, his family, and his friends from the community.
The family wishes to thank Silvia Tokarski for the months of care given to both Sonny and Verona.
Funeral services were held this morning.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church World Relief Fund, 34 Middle Butcher Road, Ellington, CT 06029.
